Fonsito's Release Party!

It is always the nights that are not planned that seem to be the most fun! Thursday night turned from an average night to a Puerto Rican fiesta at the Blue Martini. It also soon became a reminder to myself as to why I don't drink that often anymore. Friday was not as much fun as Thursday... hung over at the casita with Gretchen watching movies and eating Mcdonalds!

Gretchen and I arrived at Blue Martini before Val and Ricky, grabbed a mojito and a martini and scoped out the scene. We were on the hunt for our favorite Latin star, Luis Fonsi! Within in minutes we were able to find him in the VIP area... only one problem left... we were not VIP! In our minds we are always VIP, however the event staff did not seem to recognize us. I guess we are just not the big in Florida. We are a bigger deal up north I guess... ha ha!

We finally met up with Ricky and Val and grabbed a few more drinks from my new favorite bartender! While waiting Ricky had some cougars try to pick him up. Actually they were cougly! (Cougar + Ugly = Cougly) Making our way out of there we met up with strangers from San Juan... wish I would remember their names, but they were a blast to hang out with for the remainder of the evening. I finally worked my way inside in an attempt to get a picture with Fonsi! Success!!! I finally was able to catch him on the side of the VIP area just beofre the concert!

The show was great! We danced like we weren't gringos, we sang like we knew what we were saying and we drank like we were back in college! The next day brought me back to reality! Joseph needs to be a little less crazy and and keep a closer eye on his liquid consumption, but there was one thing I did do right... I did not drive at all!!!

ING Miami Half-Marathon

This past weekend brought and amazing new experience for me! I ran the Miami Half-Marathon with my BFAM(brother from another mother), Sam. Anyone that knows me well knows that this is quite an accomplishment for me. It was only a few short months ago that I was barely able to make it around the small pond at my apartment complex which would probably only be a half mile run. Now after a few months of slightly dedicated running and persistence I was finally able to worl my way up to 13.1 miles!!! I knew it was going to be a tough challenge and I still should have been a lot more strict with a training schedule, but I was able to finish with a pretty decent time of 2:01:32.

Now that I have finished this race.... I am hooked! You can be sure that there will be more to come after this one. I really enjoyed all of the support from friends, family and all of the other runners. It is a sport of great comraudery and an excellent way to meet new people. Although I would say that is more for Sam because he is the one that chats with everyone on the way to the finish line while I focus on the finish line and think about baby pandas! I have Sam to thank for getting me into this with him. I never would have even thought about participating in an event like this if he had not encouraged me to run with him.

The race was then followed by some bbqing, pumkin beer, kick ass margaritas, homemade salsa, good tunes and most importantly... great company! We had a few friends over for some food and watched an amazing Miami sunset. The perfect end to an amazing day!

Oh yeah... by the way... My quads are sore!
